I ran 5k yesterday in 25:57, fastest time this year and just about the right pace for a 3h50 marathon. I just need to keep building up the miles between now and May.

However I can't help being annoyed that I'm so out of condition since the peak of October last year, plenty of time to get it back but it will be hard work. My knees were aching last night so I think it's time to start morning squats with the 20kg bar bell again. As I build up the morning weights and press up routine I'm going to have to get out of bed even earlier...

I've got a 10k in Kent in the middle of March which will be a useful gauge of how far I have got and how much further I have got to go!
